ARD's Reformation Day TV service comes from Goslar
A large ecumenical celebration on 31 October in the Marktkirche
The Reformation Day service of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Germany (EKD) and the ARD will be held in the Marktkirche in Goslar this year. The service on 31 October will be broadcast live on Das Erste from 9.30 a.m. onwards.
The focus of the service will be the question of what the Reformation means for people today. The preacher will be Bishop Thomas Adomeit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Württemberg. The service will be led by Bishop Karl-Hinrich Manzke of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover. The music will be provided by the Windsbacher Knabenchor and the Staatsorchester Braunschweig.
In addition to the Reformation Day service, there will also be a number of other events in Goslar on 31 October. These will include a Reformation market, a guided tour of the city's historical centre, and a concert by the Windsbacher Knabenchor.
The Reformation Day service is one of the most important events in the Christian calendar. It is a day to remember the Reformation of the Church, which began when Martin Luther published his 95 theses in 1517. The Reformation led to the establishment of Protestantism and had a profound impact on the history of Christianity.
The ARD's Reformation Day service is an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the Reformation. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the Reformation for people today.
