Borussia Mönchengladbach Eliminates Bayern Munich on Penalties

Borussia Mönchengladbach secured a stunning upset in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday, eliminating defending champions Bayern Munich on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. With the victory, Gladbach advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition.

Bayern took the lead in the 8th minute through Eric Choupo-Moting, but Gladbach equalized in the 26th minute through Lars Stindl. The match remained level throughout the second half and extra time, forcing the outcome to be decided by penalties.

Gladbach goalkeeper Tobias Sippel emerged as the hero, saving two Bayern penalties to secure the victory for his team. Bayern's Thomas Müller and Kingsley Coman missed their spot-kicks, while Gladbach converted all five of their attempts.

Eintracht Frankfurt Cruises Past Darmstadt 98

Eintracht Frankfurt also booked their place in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals with a comfortable 4-0 victory over second-division side Darmstadt 98.

Frankfurt took control of the match from the outset and opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Randal Kolo Muani. Daichi Kamada doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, and Evan Ndicka extended the advantage further in the 62nd minute.

Substitute Rafael Santos Borré put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute, securing Frankfurt's emphatic victory and sending them through to the next round of the competition.
