A motorcyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run collision in Dingolfing on Wednesday, police said.

The crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on Dingolfinger Strasse, near the intersection with Simbacher Strasse. The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, was riding a BMW motorcycle when he was struck by a car from behind.

The impact of the collision threw the motorcyclist from his bike. He was then run over by the car, which fled the scene. The motorcyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis and internal bleeding.

Police said they are searching for a dark-colored car that was last seen heading eastbound on Dingolfinger Strasse. Witnesses said the car may have had damage to its front end.
