The 20th Season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar is Set to Premiere on RTL
Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS), the German version of the popular singing competition franchise Pop Idol, is returning for its 20th season on RTL. The show, which has launched the careers of numerous successful artists such as Mark Medlock, Pietro Lombardi, and Marie Wegener, will premiere on January 14, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. CET.
The Jury
The jury for the 20th season of DSDS will feature some familiar faces and a few new additions. Pop icon Dieter Bohlen, who has been a judge on the show since its inception, will be returning for his 20th season. He will be joined by singer and actress Katja Krasavice, rapper Shirin David, and singer Pietro Lombardi, who won the eighth season of DSDS in 2011.
The Format
The format of DSDS remains largely unchanged for the 20th season. The show will feature a series of auditions, in which aspiring singers from all over Germany will compete for a chance to advance to the live shows. The live shows will feature the contestants performing for a live audience and a panel of judges. The judges will critique the contestants' performances and eliminate one or more contestants each week until the winner is crowned.
