DFB-Pokal: HSV, Freiburg Reach Quarterfinals, Bayern Munich, Dortmund Advance
Hamburger SV reached the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals with a 4-2 penalty shootout win over 1. FC Köln on Tuesday after the match finished 2-2 after extra time.
Substitute Sonny Kittel scored the decisive penalty after Kingsley Schindler, Filip Kostic, and Bakery Jatta had all converted their spot-kicks. Simon Terodde and Anthony Modeste had put Köln 2-0 up inside 20 minutes, but Hamburg fought back to level through Bakery Jatta and Khaled Narey.

Freiburg reached the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals for the first time since 2015 with a 2-1 win over 1. FC Heidenheim on Tuesday.
Nils Petersen scored the winner in the 84th minute after Christian Gunter had canceled out Robert Glatzel's opener for Heidenheim.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also advanced to the quarterfinals with victories on Tuesday.
Bayern beat Hoffenheim 4-3 on penalties after the match finished 1-1 after extra time.
Robert Lewandowski scored Bayern's goal in regulation time, while Andrej Kramaric equalized for Hoffenheim.
Dortmund beat Union Berlin 3-2 after extra time.
Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, and Erling Haaland scored for Dortmund, while Sheraldo Becker and Grischa Prömel scored for Union Berlin.
The DFB-Pokal quarterfinals will be played on April 20 and 21.
