AIXTRON Delivers Robust Q3 Despite Weak Market Environment
AIXTRON SE continues to grow despite a challenging market due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the third quarter of 2020, the company increased its total new orders by 27% year-over-year.
The revenue increased by 9% to EUR 116.4 million compared to last year's third quarter which was EUR 107 million, while gross profit increased by 2% to EUR 56.9 million in Q3 2020 compared to last year's gross profit of EUR 56.1 million.
In Q3 2020, AIXTRON received new orders worth EUR 115.8 million, compared to EUR 91.1 million in the same quarter last year. This 27% growth was mainly driven by orders from the LED (light-emitting diodes) industry, which accounted for 42% of the total orders in Q3 2020. The orders for deposition systems for the LED industry increased by 51% year-over-year in Q3 2020.
AIXTRON's revenue in Q3 2020 increased by 9% to EUR 116.4 million, compared to EUR 107 million in the same quarter last year. This growth was driven by strong demand for LED deposition systems, which accounted for 43% of the total revenue in Q3 2020. The revenue from the LED industry increased by 16% year-over-year in Q3 2020.
In Q3 2020, AIXTRON's gross profit increased by 2% to EUR 56.9 million, compared to EUR 56.1 million in the same quarter last year. This increase was mainly due to the higher revenue and a more favorable product mix.
AIXTRON's net income in Q3 2020 was EUR 14.1 million, compared to EUR 12.8 million in the same quarter last year. This 10% increase was mainly driven by the higher gross profit. The net income margin in Q3 2020 was 12.1%, compared to 11.9% in the same quarter last year.
AIXTRON's current guidance for fiscal year 2020 remains unchanged. The company expects revenue to be in the range of EUR 420 million to EUR 470 million and net income to be in the range of EUR 45 million to EUR 60 million.
