MSV Duisburg: "Heavy-Metal-Fußball" and retirement from Facebook

At the MSV Duisburg press conference after the 0:3 defeat in the Auestadion against SC Verl, MSV sports director Ivo Grlic and MSV coach Torsten Ziegner spoke about the current dismal sporting situation of the Zebras.

"Heavy Metal Football" no longer works

Grlic explained that "Heavy Metal Football" is no longer the right approach for MSV Duisburg in the current situation. The term "Heavy Metal Football" was coined by former coach Kosta Runjaic and stands for a passionate, aggressive and physically demanding style of play.

Ziegner admitted that the team was "not good enough" and that they had to "improve in all areas". He also announced that he would be making changes to the team in the coming weeks.

Hirsch logs off Facebook

Meanwhile, MSV Duisburg goalkeeper Leo Hirsch has deleted his Facebook account. He explained that he was "tired" of the "negativity" and "insults" on social media.

Hirsch said he wanted to "focus on his family and his football" in the future. He also called on MSV fans to "get behind the team" in difficult times.

MSV Duisburg is currently in 18th place in the 3rd division table. The zebras have only won one of their last seven games.
