Salzburg drug ring busted
Austrian police have dismantled a major drug ring operating in the Salzburg region.
The operation, which involved several months of investigation, resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects and the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, including cocaine, heroin, and cannabis.
The investigation began in early 2023 after police received information about a drug trafficking network operating in the Salzburg area.
Over the following months, police conducted extensive surveillance and undercover operations to gather evidence against the suspects.
The operation culminated in a series of raids on May 10, 2023, which led to the arrest of the 10 suspects.
During the raids, police seized a large quantity of drugs, including:
- 1 kilogram of cocaine
- 500 grams of heroin
- 2 kilograms of cannabis
The suspects are facing charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to identify other members of the drug ring.
The Salzburg drug ring is the latest in a series of major drug busts in Austria in recent years.
In 2022, Austrian police dismantled a drug ring operating in the Vienna area and seized over 100 kilograms of cocaine.
The Austrian government has taken a tough stance on drug trafficking in recent years, and police have been given increased resources to combat the problem.
The Salzburg drug ring bust is a significant success for Austrian police and demonstrates their commitment to combating drug trafficking in the country.
