Siemens to Acquire U.S. Software Company Altair and Divest Airport Logistics Business
Siemens announced its plans to acquire Altair Engineering Inc., a leading U.S.-based software company specializing in simulation technology and data analytics, for approximately $470 million.
The acquisition of Altair will significantly enhance Siemens' Digital Industries portfolio, particularly in the areas of simulation and testing, data analytics, and high-performance computing. Altair's software solutions are used by a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, defense, and healthcare, and will complement Siemens' existing offerings in these markets.
In addition to the Altair acquisition, Siemens also announced the sale of its airport logistics business to Vanderlande Industries, a leading global provider of baggage handling systems and logistic process automation solutions, for approximately €1.05 billion.
The divestment of the airport logistics business is part of Siemens' ongoing portfolio optimization strategy and will allow the company to focus on its core businesses in digital industries, smart infrastructure, and healthcare. Vanderlande Industries has extensive experience in airport logistics and will be a strong partner for Siemens' customers in this sector.
