Traffic relief for the municipality on the Müritz

Bypass is to be built in three sections

Mirow - The construction of the long-awaited Mirow bypass on the B198 federal highway is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2025. This was announced by the State Office for Road Construction and Traffic (Straßenbauamt) in Neustrelitz on Thursday. The bypass is to be built in three sections: The first section will run from the Mirow-Ost junction to the Mirow-West junction. The second section will lead from the Mirow-West junction to the Leussow junction. The third section will connect the Leussow junction with the existing B198 federal highway. The construction of the bypass is necessary to relieve the municipality of Mirow from the increasing traffic volume. Currently, around 10,000 vehicles pass through the town every day. The bypass is expected to reduce traffic in the town center by around 50 percent. The construction of the bypass is expected to cost around 30 million euros. The federal government is providing around 24 million euros for the project. The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is contributing the remaining six million euros. The construction of the bypass is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
