Gernrode, Halle Secure Promotion to Third Division

VfB Germania Halberstadt and Hallescher FC have clinched promotion to the 3. Liga after securing the top two spots in the Regionalliga Northeast.

Germania Halberstadt finished the season as champions with 79 points, while Hallescher FC finished second with 76 points.

Both teams will now compete in the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup, next season.

Germania Halberstadt's Return to the Third Division

VfB Germania Halberstadt's promotion to the 3. Liga marks their return to the third tier of German football after an absence of 10 years.

The club was relegated from the 3. Liga in 2012 and has since spent the past decade in the Regionalliga Northeast.

Germania Halberstadt's success this season is due in large part to the goals of striker Nico Kummert, who finished the season with 25 goals in 34 appearances.

Hallescher FC's Promotion After Playoff Victory

Hallescher FC secured their promotion to the 3. Liga via the promotion playoffs.

The club finished second in the Regionalliga Northeast and then defeated VfL Wolfsburg II in the playoff final to earn promotion.

Hallescher FC has a rich history in German football, having won the FDGB-Pokal, the East German Cup, three times.

Regionalliga Northeast Playoff Format

The Regionalliga Northeast playoffs involve the teams finishing second through fifth in the league.

The teams play single-leg matches in a knockout format, with the winner of the final earning promotion to the 3. Liga.

This season, Hallescher FC defeated VfL Wolfsburg II 3-1 in the final to secure promotion.
