WSV beats Kray 5:0 (3:0) to advance to the quarterfinals of the Fußball-Pokal

WSV played brilliantly in the first half and secured a well-deserved victory

Oberligist Wuppertaler SV has reached the quarterfinals of the Lower Rhine Football Cup. In the second round on Tuesday evening, the Reds and Blue defeated the state league team VfB 03 Hilden by a clear 5:0 (3:0) after a strong first half. WSV's sporting director Stephan Küsters praised his team for their "very good first half." "We were much better in the challenges and deserved to take the lead," Küsters analyzed.

WSV scored three goals in the first half

Dennis Malura, who wore the captain's armband, scored the lead after just six minutes. Ahmed Azaouagh doubled the lead in the 28th minute, and Semir Saric increased it to 3-0 just before the break (45th).

WSV continued to dominate the match in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Nick Galle added another goal and Tim Kister scored the 5-0 final score in the 83rd minute.

WSV will now play the quarterfinal match at home against Regional League club Rot-Weiss Oberhausen on October 19, 2023.
