90,000 Euro Damage and Two Injured in Accident near Rheinfelden
A serious accident occurred on Friday evening on the A8 motorway near Rheinfelden, in which two people were injured and damage amounting to around 90,000 euros was caused.
According to police, a 34-year-old man from the Lörrach district was driving his car on the A8 towards Basel at around 6:45 p.m. when, for reasons that are still unclear, he veered to the right and then to the left, crashing into the guardrail. The car then overturned and came to a stop on its roof in the middle of the road.
The driver and his 32-year-old passenger were both injured in the accident and had to be taken to hospital by ambulance. The A8 was completely closed in the direction of Basel for about two hours due to the accident. A traffic jam of several kilometers formed.
The police are now investigating the exact cause of the accident. According to initial findings, the driver is likely to have been under the influence of alcohol. A blood test was ordered.
