Princess Victoria of Sweden shows military training in camouflage gear
Camouflage training with a machine gun
On Wednesday evening, the Swedish royal court published a photo series on the official Instagram account of Crown Princess Victoria, 45, that shows the heir to the throne in camouflage gear and with a machine gun. The pictures are actually older and were taken during a visit to the Gotland Regiment's training ground in mid-August on the Baltic Sea island of Gotland, as reported by the news portal "Dana Press".
Princess Victoria shows closeness to the people
Victoria appears self-confident in front of the camera in full combat gear and with a machine gun in her hand. In another picture, she sits at the controls of a military vehicle and aims the heavy weapon out of the open roof hatch. Victoria's husband, Prince Daniel, 49, accompanies her on the visit and also poses in front of the camera. It is not known whether he also trained with the machine gun. Royal fans are enthusiastic about the down-to-earth photos and comment on the social media post with expressions of admiration, such as "So cool".
Victoria's training is part of her military education
Victoria's military training is part of her education and training as heir to the throne. As a young woman, she completed basic military service in 2003 with the Swedish Navy. The compulsory military service was suspended in Sweden in 2010, but the royal family continues to complete military training. Victoria has already visited numerous barracks and units. In 2019, for example, she visited the Swedish Air Force's F 21 Wing in Luleå in northern Sweden. Victoria is considered an accessible and modern crown princess and regularly provides insights into her work and her family's life via Instagram.
