Rheinmetall and DOK-ING Team Up to Develop UGV for Minefield Management and Tank Support

Rheinmetall and DOK-ING, a Dutch unmanned vehicle specialist, have joined forces to develop two new unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs).

The first UGV, intended for minefield management, will combine Rheinmetall's demining expertise with DOK-ING's unmanned vehicle technology.

This UGV will be equipped with various sensors and tools to detect, classify, and neutralize mines.

The second UGV, dubbed the "UGV-Wingman," is designed to provide close support to main battle tanks.

The UGV-Wingman will be equipped with a range of sensors, including cameras, radar, and laser rangefinders, to enhance situational awareness for tank crews.

Additionally, it will be armed with a variety of weapons, including a 30mm cannon and anti-tank missiles, to engage enemy targets.

Rheinmetall and DOK-ING plan to unveil prototypes of both UGVs at the Eurosatory defense exhibition in June 2022.

These UGVs represent a significant step forward in the development of unmanned combat systems and are expected to play a vital role in future military operations.
